Mineral Resources are important fields of Earth Sciences that focus on the study of the minerals and rocks of the Earth. Mineral Resources include some of the major branches of Geology, such as Mineralogy, Petrology, Geochemistry and Geochemistry. The study concerns the investigation of the processes of formation of minerals and rocks (e.g. volcanoes), the discovery of deposits (e.g. metals), their potential uses (e.g. in medicine), but also their historical uses (geoarchaeology), environmental hazards (e.g. from inhalation) and their environmental applications (e.g. for water and soil decontamination).
