O Δρ. Δημήτρης Χριστοδούλου είναι γεωλόγος με Διδακτορικό Δίπλωμα στη Θαλάσσια Γεωλογία – Ωκεανογραφία από το Τμήμα Γεωλογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών και ΜΔΕ στην Περιβαλλοντική Ωκεανογραφία από το Τμήμα Γεωλογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα επικεντρώνονται, μεταξύ άλλων, στη εφαρμογή της θαλάσσιας γεωφυσικής στις θαλάσσιες γεωλογικές διεργασίες, ιδίως διαφυγές ρευστών από τον πυθμένα και υποθαλάσσιους κρατήρες, στη μελέτη υποθαλάσσιων ρηγμάτων και τεκτονικής, της σύγχρονης θαλάσσιας ιζηματογένεσης, στο σχεδιασμό και λειτουργία θαλασσίων έργων και στη θαλάσσια γεωαρχαιολογία. Επιπλέον σε θέματα περιβαλλοντικής ωκεανογραφίας όπως χημική ρύπανση στο θαλάσσιο περιβάλλον, στερεά απορρίμματα, επιπτώσεις υποξικών / ανοξικών περιβαλλόντων, ορθολογική διαχείριση και προστασία του θαλάσσιου περιβάλλοντος. Έχει περισσότερα από 20 χρόνια εμπειρίας σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα και μεγάλη εμπειρία σε εργασίες πεδίου (συλλογή γεωφυσικών, ωκεανογραφικών δεδομένων, δειγματοληψία νερού και ιζημάτων, υποβρύχιες κάμερες και ROV, επιτόπιες μετρήσεις αερίου και δειγματοληψία),  εργαστηριακή εμπειρία αλλά και οργανωτική εμπειρία κατά τη συμμετοχή μου ως ερευνητής σε 29 διεπιστημονικά Ευρωπαϊκά και διεθνή προγράμματα και σε περισσότερα από 50 εθνικά έργα. Έχει συγγράψει 46 άρθρα σε περιοδικά του SCI, 8 σε περιοδικά με κριτές, έχει συμμετοχή σε 8 κεφάλαια βιβλίων, 35 σε πρακτικά συνεδρίων και 75 σε συνόψεις συνεδρίων. Το έργο έχει λάβει 703 εταιροαναφορές (πηγή: Scopus), 1510 αναφορές (Πηγή Google Scholar),  και ο δείκτης Η είναι 18 στο Scopus και 22 Google Scholar. Από το Ακαδημαϊκό Έτος 2016-2017 έχει διδάξει το μάθημα Περιβαλλοντική Ωκεανογραφία (στο Τμήμα Γεωλογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών.
