Ο Δρ. Παύλος Αβραμίδης είναι Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Γεωλογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών. Η έρευνά του εστιάζει στηνιζηματολογία υδάτινων συστημάτων, και ιδιαίτερα στα παράκτια οικοσυστήματα όπως λιμνοθάλασσες, λίμνες, δέλτα και κόλποι, καθώς και στη γεωχημεία, τις παλαιοπεριβαλλοντικές και παλαιοκλιματικές μεταβολές. Υπήρξε υπότροφος του Ιδρύματος Κρατικών Υποτροφιών (ΙΚΥ) για εκπόνηση διδακτορικής διατριβής και μεταδιδακτορικής έρευνας, στους τομείς των Ενεργειακών Ορυκτών Πόρων και της Γεωλογίας – Ωκεανογραφίας, αντίστοιχα.

Έχει εργαστεί ως γεωτεχνικός σύμβουλος σε σειρά μεγάλων δημοσίων έργων, με αντικείμενο την περιβαλλοντική γεωλογία, τη γεωτεχνική μηχανική και την υδρογεωλογία. Ο Δρ. Αβραμίδης έχει επίσης συμμετάσχει ως κύριος ερευνητής και επιστημονικός υπεύθυνος σε πολυάριθμα εθνικά και διεθνή ερευνητικά προγράμματα του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών, που αφορούν προστατευόμενες περιοχές του δικτύου NATURA 2000 στην Ελλάδα και τις επιπτώσεις της υδατοκαλλιέργειας στο περιβάλλον και στα θαλάσσια ιζήματα.

Διετέλεσε επισκέπτης καθηγητής στην Έδρα JohannaMestorfAcademy και είναι μέλος του Cluster of Excellence “ROOTS – Social, Environmental, and Cultural Connectivity in PastSocieties” στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Κιέλου (Christian-Albrechts-UniversitätzuKiel), Γερμανία. Είναι επίσης εξωτερικός ερευνητικός συνεργάτης της Ερευνητικής Ομάδας “Palaeo-Science and History” του Ινστιτούτου MaxPlanck.

Ο Δρ. Παύλος Αβραμίδης έχει διατελέσει Αντιπρύτανης Έρευνας και Ανάπτυξης του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών (2023–2024) και Διευθυντής του Τομέα Γενικής Θαλάσσιας Γεωλογίας και Γεωδυναμικής του Τμήματος Γεωλογίας (2020–2022).
