The science of geology is all around us, and understanding how this planet works helps us protect human life and life in general, helps us protect the planet itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is no coincidence that geology tops the list of “green professions<\/strong>.” The science remains fundamentally the same, but new specializations are constantly emerging to meet modern needs related to sustainable development and environmental protection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nature, Travel, Exploration: <\/strong>The geologist’s work is largely outdoors, so it involves hiking and exploring, often to exotic destinations (geoparks, volcanoes, islands, ocean floors, etc.).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

New Technologies: <\/strong>The geological profession is not only following the technological revolution, it is at the forefront of its application. Field data collection and laboratory analysis are of paramount importance and to achieve the highest quality we use the latest instruments and software.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Many opportunities for specialization:<\/strong> The science of geology probably offers the most opportunities for specialization of any science, at least of the natural sciences. A geologist can specialize and work as: Volcanologist, Seismologist, Oceanographer, Petroleum Geologist, Meteorologist, Paleontologist, Economic Geologist, Technical Geologist, Environmental Geologist, Geochemist, Geophysicist, Hydrogeologist, Mineralogist, Sedimentologist, Petrologist, Geochronologist, Geomorphologist, etc. In fact, you can choose from working in extreme conditions, such as cryosphere geologist (glaciologist), to almost exclusively “office” or laboratory work, such as gemmologist (gemstone authentication).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Employment Prospects: <\/strong>Employment of geoscientists is projected to grow 5% from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations. The need for energy, environmental protection, and responsible land and resource management is expected to drive the demand for geoscientists in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
