 Positions
• Director of the Section of Earth Materials of the Department of Geology, University of Patras
• Director of the Laboratory of Applied Mineralogy of the Section of Earth Materials of the Department of Geology, University of Patras
• Member of the Editorial board of Journal of SCI “Materials” (I.F. 3.748)
Experience
The early specialization of Dr. Papoulis was on the Genesis of Clay Minerals of the Kaolinite group. He focused on the mineralogy and geochemistry of clays as well as the stages of clay minerals formations.
In the recent years focus has given on the applications of clays and clay minerals including photocatalysis, cosmetics, pollutant adsorbents as well as their impact on the quality of concrete. Dimitrios Papoulis is according to classification provided by Bass et al., 2021 from Stanford University in the world’s Top 2% Scientists in the field “Mining and Metallurgy” (both for career and for year 2020).
